Where do Apples Come From?

kindergarten/First Grade

Learn about apples and where they come from with books, video’s and imagination play.   Getting my son to appreciate healthy foods can be a challenge with Mc Donalds, doughut and ice cream shops on every corner.  The playmobil orchard will make it fun to appreciate healthy snacks and the hard work that goes into the apple business.

Oral Health

I have been trying to include health lessons into our Science class.  My son is a very active 6 year old that does not have time to brush his teeth.  I felt that he needs to be reminded why brushing is so important to his health. Here is the learning resources that I used for this oral health lesson.

My son loves this model,  he enjoyed making it talk and bite things.  This model helped us discuss biting and how important it is to have good chompers to eat healthy food.  I plan to use this model for years to come as we address teeth and oral health.

I really like these books for our science lessons.

Shoot The Sight Words

Teaching a high energy 6 year old boy can prove to be very challenging.  The great thing about home schooling is that I can customize a learning plan to suit him.   My son got a Nerf gun for Christmas and wants to shoot everything.  I decided to give him something worth while to shoot.

In a previous post, I shared the sight word cards that I created to go with the sight word readers that i purchased from Amazon.

What we did ………

We are learning to read sight words and write our letters. We are focusing on sight words and writing upper and lower case letters for the next couple of weeks. We will be working on letter sound review, citizenship, math and our alphabet book at least once a week.

Prior to starting the lesson, you may want to visit the links to Amazon to find the items that I used.  I have alloted 2 days to learn the sight words and read the book.  Your child may need more time, that is fine.  These are work at your own pace lesson plans.

We are using Sight Word Readers by Scholastic which include 50 commonly used words.

I have created sight word readers flash cards for the 50 site words in these readers Free Printable. I printed mine on card stock, cut them out and glued 2 cards together and laminated 4 (8 words) per sheet.

This blog contains Amazon Associate links.  I receive a small percent of money for any items that are purchased from links on my blog.  Any product that I provide a link to, is a product that I use myself.  I thank you for your support.
