Here is another one of my easy meal tips. Ground beef, chicken and turkey make easy and cost friendly meals.
I like to find large family packs on sale at my local grocery store (Kroger or Sprouts) and stock up. Ground chicken or turkey is often half the price of beef and in my opinion just as yummy in taco’s or spaghetti.
Let’s get started! The first thing I do is cook the meat, onions and seasoning in a skillet. The amount of meat will depend on your family size and number of meals that you are preparing.
Use the seasoning salt sparingly as you will be adding seasoning containing salt later.
Now, it is time to separate for meals ….
Separate your meat mixture to add to the number of meals.
Spaghetti and Meat Sauce
….. Add some frozen green peppers, mushrooms and sauce to a portion of your meat mixture.
Put all these ingredients into a freezer bag label and freeze. When it is time to use, defrost and heat. Boil your favorite noodle, top with sauce and parmesan cheese and you are done.
Taco’s or Taco Salad
……… Add some taco seasoning
I like to add some frozen corn to ours
Label and put into a freezer bag. Defrost and heat, put into taco shells, top with lettuce, cheese and tomatoes.
Dinner is served.
Mac Burger Meal
………add some frozen peas and a pinch of chili powder to your meat mixture.
Label and freeze your meat mixture. Defrost and heat meat mixture. Cook up a box of noodles and cheese to the meat mixture.
Next I will share my morning one pot chili meal.
Fall is here and soon it will be Thanksgiving and everyone will be saying, “no more turkey”. My family likes turkey and dressing all year long.
This is not my traditional turkey and dressing Thanksgiving meal. This is my easy Frozen meal dinner. I am a child of the 70’s, we referred to these meals as TV dinners. They were in foil pans and had to be heated in the oven. The idea was to eat them in front of the TV on a TV tray.
Here is my second batch of frozen meals.
My family likes the flavor of grilled meat. I first seasoned both sides of the beef patties with garlic and seasoning salt before throwing them on the grill.
I like to then saute fresh mushrooms in butter sprinkled with garlic powder.
I will then add the jar brown gravy and cream of mushroom soup to the mushrooms to complete the gravy.
Pour gravy with mushrooms over meat.
To make it easier I chose to use can beans and preformed patties. If I find a great deal on chopped meat I will make my own patties in an oval shape, season and grill.
Cost per meal will depend on your serving size and cost of food. I put 2 patties per meal and made 12 meals at approximately $1.50 per meal.
If your like me, you like your bed to look all made in the morning but feel in a hurry to get started making breakfast, laundry etc.. I have the simple solution
First off, I only like cotton and washable on my bed.
I decided to simplify my bed making routine by getting rid of the top sheet and blanket.
Cotton filled comforter in a medium to heavy weight
Cotton fitted sheet
Cotton pillow cases
Cotton duvet and pillow shams set
Washable throw pillow
Everything I put on our bed is used for sleeping and looks. This is one of the reasons I like all cotton.
In the morning all I do is fluff the pillows up against the headboard, smooth out the duvet and put the throw pillow on.
In the winter I may add a cotton blanket to the foot of the bed. At night we can pull it up for added warmth.
With this easy solution your bed can be fully made in less than a minute.
I enjoy the convenience of frozen meals but not the quality, quantity or cost. I decided to make my own and it is easier than I thought it would be.
I will be posting several different freezer meal ideas.
Ham, Scallop Potatoes and Green Beans
I was able to get 9 hearty serving sizes for 1.75 per frozen meal.
Cost per meal will depend on cost of food and your portion sizes.
Label with date and item name on masking tape stick on lid.
The containers are freezer, dishwasher and microwave safe.
